The Other Canadian BrinsmeadsHugh Brinsmead was not the first family member to come to Canada. We assume that Richard Brimsmead who settled in Medonte, Simcoe County, Ontario, was also related, despite the difference in spelling. In 1877, Hugh's cousin Henry also came out to London, Ontario where he married. Hugh's youngest daughter Elizabeth lived with Henry and his wife Ellen for a time. Noel Brinsmead came out to Canada as part of the East Ender party of children in 1902. Soon after he arrived, he signed up for WW1 and went back to Europe. He was seriously injured at Ypres.
